Curtain Hem Pinning

How to Pin Your Curtain Hem

Gold Coast Curtains offers a distinctive method for their Curtain Alterations Service that involves a pining system. To ensure precise measurements for the hem of the curtain, customers are required to pre-hang all curtains on each window. The following steps are necessary to achieve optimal results using our system.

  1. Hang each curtain on its given window, attach a label or note to each curtain indicating its location on the window. Record the curtain's location from the perspective of the interior, such as "Left side of north-facing window in the master bedroom."
  2. To achieve the desired style, it is important to pin all curtains at every corner and around every 20-30 centimetres along the hem. There are three basic lengths to choose from. The first and most recommended length is 1 inch off the ground. This allows for airflow under the curtain, which is necessary to prevent filtration marks on carpets and the bottom of the curtain. The second length is 1 centimetre off the ground, which can cause filtration marks and the hem will get dirty quicker due to limited airflow around the curtain. The final length is the flowing length, where there is just over 1 inch of hem flowing on the floor. However, this style will wear and get dirty very quickly. It is important to choose the right length to ensure the longevity and cleanliness of your curtains.
  3. Bring your curtains to Gold Coast Curtains and we'll hem them to your preferred style or the original hem style. Our system ensures a perfect length and long-lasting service for your curtains. Trust us to deliver quality curtain alterations the first time.
